Maxwell–Cattaneo double-diffusive convection: limiting cases

Double-diffusive convection, in which a fluid is acted upon by two fields (such as temperature and salinity) that affect the density, has been widely studied areas diverse oceans stellar atmospheres. Assuming classical Fickian diffusion for both heat salt, evolution of salinity are governed parabolic advection–diffusion equations. In reality, there small extra terms these equations render hyperbolic (the Maxwell–Cattaneo effect). Although corrections nominally small, they represent singular perturbation hence can lead to significant effects when underlying differences large. this paper, we investigate linear stability double-diffusive layer show amending Fick's law temperature, or salinity, alone new modes oscillation very large changes preferred wavelength oscillatory convection at onset. particular, salt finger regime double here replaced oscillations concentration high. The more complicated case laws amended left future now preparation.
